Reece's Rainbow is dedicated to rescuing orphans abroad with Down syndrome. The ugly truth of the matter is that once these children reach a certain age, especially growing up in institutional/orphanage settings, they get to a point where they are no longer likely to be adopted.
It is very painful to have to make this determination. So we ask that you pray for the following children. They are STILL AVAILABLE TO BE ADOPTED. We will continue to accept donations to a general "older child" fund, which will be made available to the first child from this page who is successfully adopted! Please pray for their health and happiness....for God's presence in their lives...for a family who might be experienced and willing to share their lives with these beautiful, deserving children.

Andruis Born December 31, 2000 Lithuania SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!! Andruis is a precious little boy who is almost 6 years old. He is a New Year's Eve baby, so he brings the promise of great things in every new year! Andruis has some hearing loss and wears hearing aids. He continuously receives speech and music therapy. As you can see from his photo, he is doing well, but desperately needs a family as he is considered "older". This country requires 2 trips by both parents. The first trip is only 7 days, the 2nd trip is 10-14 days. Parents must be 25-48 years of age at application. A maximum of 45 years between parent and child. She had a heart defect, but has had corrective surgery. She is a very sweet girl who needs a loving family environment to thrive in. Lukas is a handsome young man who was born from a single mother. The mother died in 2003 of multiple aneurysms in the brain. He is healthy and eats independently. Gunars, # 2 Boy, Born on June 8, 1999 LATVIA This handsome young man is almost 8 years old. He has grey eyes and dark hair. Gunars is described as very active, mobile, and social. He loves affection and personal contact. He needs continued physical therapy, as he does not walk on his own yet. This could be from lack of PT, or from being stubborn! He moves by crawling, gets up on his feet by pulling up on furniture. Despite the fact that he doesn't walk, he is very mobile! Based on the the doctor's observations, Gunars does not talk, does not understand language, and would be considered severely delayed. The only way to know this for sure is to have him seen by a US doctor. Gunars was born with a heart condition. Doctors recommend a gluten-free diet, ferment therapy, vitamin therapy, remedial gymnastics, massage, surveillance of physiotherapist, ergotherapist and orthopedist

Lukas, # 3 Boy, Born on November 11, 1998 LATVIA Lukas is 8 years old, and has blonde hair and blue eyes. He is described as calm and joyful. Even at 8, he is still trying to master walking, but with continued physical therapy and lots of "encouragement", he will get there! He is able to feed himself but still needs some help in staying focused. His receptive language is very good, but he does not speak yet. Lukas was born with a heart condition. Lukas has two younger brothers who are also available for adoption, if you might be interested in adopting as sibling group. However, Lukas CAN be adopted separately.

He is healthy outside of minor strabismus (crossed eyes) and an umbilical hernia (outward belly button!) He does not speak yet, but has great potential with continued speech therapy. Valentins, # 5 Boy, Born on October 31, 1997 LATVIA Valentins is a very handsome young man with blue eyes and dark hair. He is a calm and quiet boy who does not speak yet. He is in need of continued speech and global therapies. He does verbalize some things, but not words. Doctors observe that he does not understand language and does not react to his own name, but this can only be confirmed by a US doctor and family observations. Many children with Down syndrome have "selective listening" skills....this doesn't mean they don't understand you, it means they are ignoring you! Valentins is not potty trained yet and is still using diapers. He is able to eat by himself. Valentins is considered significantly delayed. He has asthma and is allergic to dairy products.

Kristina, # 29 Girl, Born on January 22, 1999 LATVIA This gorgeous little girl seems to be very high functioning! Kristina has blue eyes, blonde hair, and a very sweet disposition! She loves to interact with others. She sat independently at 11 months, crawled at 15 months, and walked independently at the age of 3 years and 3 months. She eats on her own and has been working on her words since she was 2 1/2 years old. Kristina has been in the orphanage since birth. She had the benefit of maternal visits for the first 3 years of her life, but her mother has not visited since 2002. She is going to be such a wonderful daughter for a very deserving mother!! She is healthy, with no medical conditions noted.

He chatters to himself in his own special language but through speech therapy they are working on his speech development. He has Down syndrome, but performs his own self-care tasks and likes to be independent. This special little boy desperately needs a loving family that can cherish him. (MH.0796.(1681).03)

(# 41) Boy, 6 1/2 years old Born on June 16th, 2001 This handsome young man has big, beautiful, brown eyes and dark hair. He is very sympathetic and sensitive. He is very calm and laid back, and is not easily bothered by things going on around him. At this time, he still has no language skills. The doctor recommends continued physical, speech, and occupational therapy. Nikolajs has four brothers and three sisters. The family gave him to the orphanage at birth. It is very sad to know this child was given away when he could have had a loving family :(( But God has other plans for Nikolajs, and those include becoming part of YOUR family.

59 Girl, 7 years old Born on April 18, 2001 LATVIA Veronika is another Baltic beauty, with blue eyes and blonde hair. She is described as calm and well-behaved. She willingly performs directions from adults, and waits for encouragement and praise for doing a good job. Veronika is very observant...she keeps a close watch on adult’s speech and action, understands directions with the help if gestures/signs, tries to imitate adult behaviors, and reacts very positively to praise. She doesn't like to be reprimanded. Veronika gladly engages in contact with a known adult, is cautious in contact with strangers, can cooperate with peers, and can play common games. Nevertheless, she plays very well on her own as well. She is able to act consistently and determinedly when she has a good routine (this is another common thread for children with Down syndrome). She has difficulties "switching gears" quickly. She can analyze and compare in a simple level, but cannot separate colors and sizes yet. She has a small vocabulary, is familiar with the parts of the body, eats independently, drinks from a cup, observes manners at the table, dresses and undresses alone, and brushes her teeth without assistance. Sounds like the perfect child to me!

(# 66) Boy, 6 years old Born on April 27th, 2001 LATVIA · Our man Gabriels is ever so handsome, with blue eyes and light brown hair. He is described as calm and kind natured. He loves one-on-one time with adults, and is very loving and affectionate. He does not like sudden changes in the environment around him, but this is typical of children with Down syndrome. He loves to be held and played with and hugged. Gabriels does have a heart condition: ASD, a double departure from the right ventricle, and stenosis II of the lung arteries. He does have some hearing loss as well.
