 Angel Girls

Everyone loves a precious little girl they can dress up in frilly dresses and hair bows.  They capture the hearts of every daddy in the world!    Here are some who are waiting for their family at the end of Reece's Rainbow.  Their special needs include such things as arthrogryposis, CP, spina bifida, FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), Autism, and other diagnoses.

Unlike several of our other "group" grant funds which are made for the first child adopted from that page, each of these "Other Angels"  does still retain their own grant account.  PLEASE designate which child you are sponsoring in your Paypal donation.

Chloe (1sid, region 6)

Russia

This is another beautiful child, this time a girl, also in Russia, whom we believe has Saethre-Chotzen Syndrome.   (like OWEN)  Chloe is not quite a year old yet, and does not seem to be as severe as Owen, but would benefit from life-saving surgery and therapies to help her if she could be adopted soon!   There will never be a place for her in her home country, and she will likely not have access to any surgeries to help improve her cranio-facial condition.

 Anya  (16)

Girl, Born January 28, 2008

Miss Anya was born with arthrogryposis.  She is affected in her arms and her legs, so she is not really mobile at this time.  She is at the perfect age to get her home and working hard in therapy, to have corrective surgery, etc.    She also has a heart condition, but appears good in color and weight/size for her age.   From her medical records:  Arthrogryposis; brain malformation; anomalous chord in the left heart ventricle.

I have $295 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

 Tammy  (13)

Girl, Born February 6, 2008

Super cute muffin with blonde hair and green eyes!

From her medical records:  umbilical hernia, hiatus of the hard palate, open oval window, supplementary chord of the left ventricle, anemia.   Although it is not documented and not 100% for certain, Tammy does have some facial characteristics of FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome).  This is just a cautionary disclosure, so families are prepared and open to the challenges of FAS in the event this is the case.  Her hard palate and heart complications are also common symptoms of the effects of prenatal alcohol use.

If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition.  Just as with Down syndrome, FAS and FAE have a wide variation of effects on each child, both medically, physically, and cognitively.   This is typically dependent on how long during the pregnancy the mother consumed alcohol, and of course, how much.   There is no way to know this ahead of time.

Girl, Born May 28, 2005

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Look at this little princess!  She is already 4 and facing the institution very soon!!!

Lorie was born with a spinal hernia and CP, leaving her with weak muscles and limbs.    The hernia was surgically removed, and she is walking with help now!   She does have some strabismus, but is such a gentle and happy child!   She is blessed to still be at the baby house, but will be transferred soon.

PLEASE consider saving her, and giving her the chance to maximize her potential in a loving family!
I have $35 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

Olga  (4)

Girl, Born November 30, 2004

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Olga is a beautiful girl with brown hair and deep brown eyes.  We are so glad to have a new photo of her.  She is almost 5 years old and has severe CP.  She is not able to walk or do much of anything on her own.  But she needs a FAMILY!
From one of our own adoptive families who visited with Olga in August 2009:   "Little Olga really touched my heart, and I SO hope that she finds a family!!!!!  She is such a pretty little girl with a very, very sweet spirit.  Her CP is pretty severe, and I don't believe she sees well.  Also, her hips look either to be dislocated pretty badly, or else they are just in a bad position.  I didn't hold her or try to do anything with her on this first visit but I did talk to her, and stroked her face and arms and whispered sweet nothings in Russian to her.  At first she seemed a little wary, but after awhile she softened and I could see what a beautiful little girl there was inside.  To the right family who could handle her issues, oh, what a blessing she'd be.  I just fell in love with her.  I do have more pictures if anyone is interested."
Olga is almost 5 years old and is blessed to still be at the baby house.  She is facing institutionalization this Winter, and will likely remain bedridden the rest of her short life.  :((  Someone please save Olga!
I have $1756 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

Irina  (17)

Girl, Born March 5, 2005

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Irina is a beautiful girl with dark hair and big dark eyes.  She has a cleft palate.  She is cognitively delayed, likely as a result of FAS.  She is a precious and happy little girl, and will do great in a family as a youngest child.  She can be *assertive* at times, but responds very well to individual attention and will really thrive as the "baby".  She is facing the institution soon, and she needs a family quickly!

There is no way to know this ahead of time

Lorena  (25)

Girl, Born November, 2005

This beautiful, brown haired, blue eyed angel was born with a lot of strikes stacked against her.  That doesn't mean she doesn't deserve a voice or a chance to have a family who loves her and can help her be all she is able!   From her medical records:  CEREBRAL PALSY.   Inborn defect of brain development (hypoplasia of right hemisphere, cerebellum, mosaic body). Syndrome of spastic tetraparesis; stage of motion defect.   Secondary microcephaly.  Hip dysplasia.  Secondary miocardiopathy.  Mental delay.

Lorena is facing the mental institution soon, and will remain bedridden for life if she is not adopted.

Little Cheri is so beautiful, with dark hair and big brown eyes.    She was born with CP and struggles with epilepsy as well.  She is not mobile at this time, but God knows how she will blossom with therapy and a loving family to encourage her!

I have $0 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

Lera  (29)

Girl, Born August 14, 2006

Our little Lera has a host of challenges to face in her life, but she is beautiful and deserving of a loving family to help her!   Her official medical records indicate:    Inborn defect of development of Central Neurological System: schizencephaly, agenesis of the corpus callosum.  Cleft palate. Syndactily.  Polydactyly.

Despite all of these odds stacked against her, she is an orphanage favorite and is well loved.  She will really blossom in a loving family, and learning to use her other senses will open up the world around her.

Wendy is already 3 1/2 now, and is facing the institution soon.  She needs a family right away!

 Valerie (35)

Girl, Born February 16, 2004

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Isn't Valerie cute??  She is diagnosed with hypothyroidism.  She also has strabismus (crossed/lazy eyes).    She is diagnosed with developmental delay, and shows many of the facial characteristics of a child with FAS (Fetal Alcohol syndrome).  But she is a darling girl, very active, loving and affectionate!   She is facing the institution soon.  I hope a family is out there waiting just for her!

I have $0 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

Mila  (9)

Girl, Born June 5, 2006

FAS and cleft palate

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Look at this darling little cupie doll!   Mila was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and several complications from that exposure.  Her medical records indicate cleft palate, oval window (heart condition), strabismus, and microcephaly (all common symptoms of this condition).   But she is also friendly and happy, loves attention, and desperately needs a loving family.

Regrettably, this orphanage is one of the poorer ones, with very little outside aid and very little hope.    All of the children are tiny and undernourished.  These children are immediately transferred at 4, and have little chance of survival where they are sent.  All of our waiting children need families, but these have a critical need.  Please consider one of these children soon!!

I have $430 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

Katya  (25)

    Girl, Born October 14, 2005

    CP and Spinal Hernia

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

This little angel can just light up a room with her smile and her giggle.   She is constantly happy, very alert and playful, and is an orphanage favorite.   We are waiting for some new photos of her, but she is registered and available to be adopted now!   She is 4 now, so will be living on borrowed time before she turns 4.     She has had surgery for her spinal hernia (not spina bifida), but it was unsuccessful in her country.    She is not able to pull up or stand/walk on her own.   We hope she would have much better chances of correction here in the US, but we will not have any x-rays or other records available prior to your trip to share with a doctor for review.    She has decompensated hydrocephaly as well.

Children from this orphanage are sent to the institution promptly on their birth date, so we are working hard to prevent that for this little sunshine.    She will be bedridden for her short life if she is transferred.  Please consider rescuing Miss Tori!

Little Mariah was dealt a tough hand in life, right from conception.  Her mother drank heavily throughout the pregnancy, so she was born with FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome).   She was also born at 33 weeks as a result of that drinking.  She suffered cerebral ischemia at birth, and she has partial optic atrophy in both eyes.   She does not have any internal medical complications, which is a miracle in and of itself.
Mariah is able to walk on her own, despite her vision challenges.  She is able to climb stairs and play with toys.  She has some speech, but not a lot at this time.    She LOVES music and loves to dance.

    Michelle  (6)

    Girl, Born September 8, 2006

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

This precious little girl is mostly blind.   She has obvious cataracts and strabismus.  Her medical records indicate that she is blind with optic atrophy.  She has tetraparesis (limb weakness), and this is caused by diagnosed CP.    A family who visited with her recently tells us she is quite low functioning right now, but goodness, how she would blossom in al oving family who could really help her overcome her lack of vision!

Michelle will be transferred to a mental institution and will likely remain bedridden for life if she is not adopted.  Hope someone will consider being her "forever family"!

I have $0 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

    Masha  (9)

    Girl, Born January 10, 2007

This beautiful muffin.....Masha struggles with many symptoms of FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome).

From her medical records:  Diagnosis: mother had syphilis and was alcohol addict, congenital malformation of nervous system, encephalitis, secondary hydrocephaly, mental disorders as a result of organic affection of brain, chronic pyelonephritis, congenital malformation of genital system - reflex uropathy, crossed eyes.  She HAS been tested for syphilis and is NEGATIVE, even though her mother was carrying at the time of her birth.  This little one has so much potential, even though her records make her sound like she's in a vegetative state (which she clearly isn't!)   My goodness, what a loving family can do for her, she will truly blossom!

I have $0 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

    Girl, Born January 22, 2007
Nana is a precious little girl with sunshine blonde hair and blue eyes.  Her medical records indicate prenatal alcohol abuse, resulting in severe CP and hydrocephaly.    I so wish we had a better photo of Nana, and hope to get one soon so she has a better chance of finding a family to save her.

Another blonde haired, blue eyed beauty!  She was born with the effects of FAS, and bears many of the facial characteristics of this.   She also has epilepsy, and is treated with medication for the frequent daily tremors that she has.    She is delayed with her physical abilities, but will so benefit from improved medication and monitoring of her epilepsy, and a loving family to encourage her!

    Erra (12)

    Girl, Born 2006

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON !!

From our missionary who is also a professional early intervention developmental specialist:

Erra is an  absolutely beautiful, healthy little girl with no dysmorphic features; big blue eyes and dark brown hair. She looks like she's two but is reportedly 3 1/2.  Erra has hydrocephalus which has been shunted/head circumference appears to be within normal limits! Erra is reported to have low vision (10%) but was able to track a ball and touch small items such as my jewelry. She imitated clapping.  Erra seeks propreoceptive input through bouncing and rocking on hands and knees.   It is possible she is on the Autism Spectrum, but with stimulation and a loving environment, she should respond really well.

She displays a slight hemiparisis on her right side and is nonambulatory. She is able to communicate dislikes by crying. For example: when removed from the swing she fused but calmed to the verbalizations of the worker. She allowed unfamiliar people to hold her and interact. She had an engaging laugh while bouncing and responded to interactions favorably.  With Early Intervention services such as physical, occupational, speech and vision therapy she should make progress. She is a very pleasant little girl who would be a joy to have!

    Talia  (26)

    Girl, Born March 17, 2007

    Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

This darling little girl is 2 years old now.  She is nearly walking on her own, and is waiting for her "forever family".  She was born with FAS, and has many of the facial features common to this condition.   Talia is actually diagnosed with FAS, so there must be documentation of consumption during pregnancy in the records.

Talia is living in the same orphanage as Janie is, and as our "Georgie" and "Eve and Dana" were.    Talia and Janie can be adopted together.

    Janie  (26)

    Girl, Born March 8, 2006

    Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Janie is a beautiful little girl who struggles with the effects of FAS.    This is not a good photo of her, but she has beautiful blue eyes.   She is not able to walk on her own yet, and will need the loving and patient care of a family to help her achieve her potential.   She is 3 years old now, so will be living on borrowed time before she turns 4.

We are hoping to get more detailed info about her cognitive abilities, and any possible medical complications she may have as a result of her FAS.  FAS has a wide spectrum of effects and should be researched carefully.   Janie is living in the same orphanage as our "Georgie" and "Eve and Dana" were.    Talia and Janie can be adopted together.

    Abigail (10)

    Girl, Born April 22, 2005

Abigail has been waiting an awful long time for her family!  Now she is 4 already :(   Abigail was born with CP, but it is very mild.  She is able to walk, run, climb...you'd never know she had this challenge.   She loves to DANCE too!   She's not very smiley in this pic, but she is described as a very happy and active little girl.  She does have some mild cognitive and speech delay, but she is a very healthy girl otherwise and will make a wonderful daughter!
Some of her facial features indicate FAS, but this is not documented, it is only a cautionary disclosure so families are prepared.

    Girl, Born July 27, 2007

Leah has dark hair and dark eyes.  She is such a cutie!   Leah has many of the facial characteristics of a child with FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome).  This is not documented, but is a discretionary disclosure for families considering her.     She is diagnosed with both psychological and some physical delays, which is also consistent with FAS.  Little Leah is also HIV+, III stage.   Her mother was + for both HIV and TB :((   Leah has so much potential and is just beautiful!  Hope someone will give her a chance to grow up in a loving family!  All of these children are currently taking anti-viral medications, and as RNA counts change often, this info can be obtained closer to your time of committing to adopt.
