Taiwan, formally called the Republic of China, is Asia's first constitutional republic. This beautiful island is 394 Km long and actually the largest body of land between Japan and the Philippines. Taiwan offers gorgeous mountains, fabulous hot springs, warm tropical summers and short, mild winters. The Taiwanese government offers prospective adoptive families the opportunity to adopt a Taiwanese child in need of a loving home. The birthmothers in Taiwan are actively involved in the adoption process. Each birthmother is given the opportunity to actually choose the adoptive family for her child, although she is not required to do so. Once an adoptive family is selected, the child's medical report and social history will be presented to the prospective adoptive parent(s). Once a referral is accepted, photographs will be provided. Additional paperwork is then completed, returned to Taiwan and the adoption case begins the court process. Typically, the court process takes 4-6 month until completion. The child is ready to come home shortly thereafter.
