Our Most AT RISK Children

Dear Sponsors,  the children listed below are at greatest risk of institutionalization due to their age and/or medical complications.   They represent many different countries.   Typically, these children are sent to the mental institutions at the age of 4, so we are in a frantic race against time to earn grant donations and find adoptive families for them before their time runs out.    Although they can still be adopted once they are transferred, we work really hard to prevent that from ever happening.

Please be sure to take note of their birthdates, so you know when they turn 4.    Pray for them and think of them on these days.     When other children are celebrating with parties and presents and looking forward to preschool, these children have no idea the horrors that await them when they turn 4.   Some of them have already turned four, and by a miracle of God, have not been transferred yet.  Please help us save these children!   Look how many have already been saved, and are living healthy, happy, productive lives with their families.   Your donations made that possible for those kids, but these are still waiting!

Your donations can truly mean the difference between life and death for these little ones.  The high cost of international adoption is the number one factor that keeps families from committing.  Your "gift of a family" makes it possible for adoptive families to rescue these very deserving angels.  Thank you for your generosity!

Donations can also be made via check (saves on Paypal fees) to:  Reece's Rainbow, PO Box 4024, Gaithersburg, MD  20885

All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

If you have any questions about these children, whether for sponsorship or adoption, please contact us!

Andres

Born September 17, 1998

Estonia

Andres is living in ESTONIA, a former Soviet republic on the Baltic Sea west of Russia.  Estonia fared much better economically than some of  the other Eastern European countries, so their children are better cared for.   The facility he lives in is an old Soviet era two story building.  But the inside has been completely renovated, is very clean and homey, and they have all brand new furniture.     The children live in "families"...groups of about 8 children.  Each family has it's own living area, bed rooms, bathrooms, school rooms, and kitchen.

I have just returned from visiting with Andres myself.  He is an absolute ANGEL.  He is 9 now and is in the first grade. He can TALK, he is potty trained, and is truly a perfect example of the loving, happy, social, friendly children that children with Down syndrome typically are.    He understands Russian and Estonian.  His language skills are really coming along, so introducing English to him at this point would be good.  I know that Andres will really thrive in a true family setting, with others around him who are typically developing.     His adjustment will be an easy one too.   You will never regret your decision to share your family with this handsome young man.

I do not know if he has a heart condition or not, but he appears to be very healthy to me.   This is something the agency can confirm for you.  He probably wears a size 6 pants, 5/6 shirt....he obviously eats well and is very age appropriate in his size.   He has blonde hair and hazel eyes.  His smile and his giggle light up a room.  He chased me around the room, he hugged me and blew kisses, and he even taught me a little bit of Estonian.  He is so smart and will blend right into any family.    His nanny at the baby house misses him so much...she absolutely adored him.

Andres needs a family who is experienced with older children with special needs, and also who is experienced with international adoption and the behaviors that sometimes arise in children who have been living in orphanages their whole life.   Andres is a VERY smart and loving little boy, and he will adjust well, but as with any child, he needs a family who is patient and understanding and can recognize his behaviors as "coping mechanisms".

Andres' fees have been dramatically reduced, so with home study, INS, and travel (two trips), you'd be looking at about $16k.  Both parents should travel the first trip (about 4 days), and then only one parent must travel for court about 4-6 months later.  That trip is about 10-14 days.   Traveling in Estonia is very easy and very safe.  Most people there speak at least functional English (those working in public service, such as hotels, taxis, the airport, restaurants, etc).    Estonia is a great program for first time international travelers.

Estonia's adoption travel requirements are VERY EASY in comparison to many other countries.   The dossier is simple too.   Two trips.  Only one parent must travel for the first trip for about 4 days.  Only one parent must travel for court the 2nd trip, 10-14 days.     There is a video available, and greater medical history info as well.
Andres has been waiting SO LONG.  His  agency and country fees are already reduced to $5500.  Please consider rescuing Andres from a permanent life in an orphanage.

My FOREVER FAMILY found me!

March 2008

Elisabeta

Born September 22, 2004

My name means "God is my oath"

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Elisabeta is all smiles!  She is 3 1/2 years old now, with brown hair and GIANT  blue eyes.  She is a constantly happy child, just as most children with Down syndrome are.  Elisabeta is fortunate in that she lives in a very loving and progressive orphanage.  This orphanage has had significant financial help from a major humanitarian aid group for the last 4 years.   Children here have been well fed, and continuously provided with new clothing, bed linens, cloth diapers, and toys and books.  The most wonderful thing about this orphanage is the fully-equipped THERAPY ROOM that all of these children have had access to.  They eat, play, and sleep with the typical children, and have built appropriate social, sensory, and feeding skills.  Elisabeta, once home with her new adoptive family, will THRIVE almost immediately, and serve as living proof of the potential children with Down syndrome have in the right environment.

Elisabeta is a victim of the "paperwork system"....she will not be available for adoption until after she turns 4, but with a committed family, the director may be willing to hold her at the baby house without sending her away.

One of our own adoptive families who visited with her in March 2008 shared this with us:  "  Along with our son in his room is an adorable little girl with dark brown hair and brown eyes.  She waddled right into the room, paused for the camera, then checked me out pretty good!  She has a sweet smile although it disappeared every time the camera came out and her little inquisitive look replaced it.  This little beauty has Down syndrome and is very sweet and curious."

Elisabeta will be available for adoption in DECEMBER of 2008.

Mariam

Girl, Born 2004

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

This beautiful little girl has dark hair and very deep, dark eyes.  She is so pretty!  Mariam was born preterm at 36 weeks pregnancy.  She has MOSAIC Down syndrome.  She does not have a heart condition.   At 2 years, 3 months she was not able to sit up by herself, yet she was able to crawl.  By now she might be sitting unassisted, but it is clear that early intervention therapies will benefit her greatly.  She loves to play with her toys, and like many children with Down syndrome, she has a great ability to focus on the one thing she is doing and ignore her surroundings.  (man, I wish I could block out half the stuff I deal with daily!)    According to the doctor, she loves to be loved on :)    She eats well and has 8 teeth.   She has been vaccinated according to her age. Blood tests for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C were all negative.

Boy, 4 years old

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

This little boy is so handsome and so ready to have a family to call his own!  We learned of him through one of our families who traveled to this orphanage in December 2007.   We are waiting on further detailed info about his DOB and medical condition, but we know he is already 4 and facing the institution very soon.  Please consider rescuing him before that happens, and check back for further info!

Angelina

Girl, Born February 14, 2003

ESTONIA

Angelina is a gorgeous Valentine's baby!   She has brown hair and brown eyes and just turned 5 years old.    Angelina was born with an ASD, and struggled with some pulmonary hypertension, but she is doing quite well now.    There is no record of surgery to correct the ASD, so it may have closed on it's own. She was started on diuretics early in her life, and is still taking them.  She will need to be seen by a cardiologist upon arrival in the US to determine if any surgery will be necessary.

Angelina is a precious little girl who desperately needs a forever family.   She has been waiting far too long to become clear for international adoption and the chance that a family can give her in life!   Please consider Angelina!

Fees already reduced, total approx cost is $21k with home study, INS, fees, travel, etc.

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Oleg is a handsome little boy waiting on his forever family!  He is HEALTHY and has so much potential to really blossom in a family environment.  He is tiny for his age, and is blessed to have been at the baby house for so long.   He must be sent to the institution soon, so we need a family for him right away!

Tina

Girl, Born 2003

Lithuania

Look at this china doll of a little girl!  She is 5 years old and waiting for her forever family to bring her home!   She has brown eyes and brown hair, and a smile that will light up a room!  She does have a small heart murmur, but it is not considered life-threatening.  She should be followed by a cardiologist once home.

Lithuania is one of the costlier countries to adopt from, but it is a very predictable and stable program.   Lithuania is a small European country next to Poland, Latvia, Belarus, and Russia. Children are cared for in orphanages as in other European countries. Children are 1-15 years of age, and may sibling groups are available for adoption. Photos and a video are shared with the family.

On the first trip, parents will meet their child and begin the legal proceedings. They will stay in the capital city of Vilnius - a beautiful, old-world city. The second trip completes the legal process. The family will then travel to Warsaw, Poland to secure the child's visa from the U.S. Embassy (there currently is no US Embassy in Lithuania).

Please consider giving Tina the life she deserves with a loving family!

I have $0 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

My FOREVER FAMILY found me! Olga

Girl, Born April 25, 2004

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Olga is an Eastern European beauty, with brown hair and brown eyes.  She is HEALTHY, with no heart or other medical complications.  Olga is a pretty high functioning little girl!  She is able to walk on her own, feed herself, and tries to dress herself as well.  She has been well taken care of, and is much closer to the size of a typical 4 year old than some of our previously adopted 4 year olds!

She looks like a fiery, active, "take-on-the-world" type of girl, and we know she will accomplish great things in a family setting!   But if she is sent to the institution, she will regress and she will never be the same :(

Please give Olga the chance to be YOUR daughter, and not a statistic in an Eastern European mental institution.

Olga has already turned 4, so she is truly living on borrowed time!!

Andrey A.

Boy, Born February 8, 2005

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Andrey is a handsome, happy, smiley, affectionate, high functioning little  boy.  He has blonde hair and blue eyes.  He is blessed to have been raised with the typical children in this orphanage, and has truly benefited from that learning environment.   He is facing institutionalization, so we hope to find a family for him before that happens!

Andrey is an orphanage favorite!   He does have an oval window and a PDA, but has been followed by a cardiologist there who finds no circulation impairment, and does not believe he needs any further surgery (this would up toy our own cardio when you get home).  Andrey is able to sit, eat by himself, hold a drink from an open cup....they still have him in a walker, but he moves his feet and is really getting there.  He will up and walking in no time once you have him home and can work with him!

I have $ 2555 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

Ruslan

Born April 13, 2005

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Ruslan is a beautiful little boy, with olive skin, dark hair and dark eyes.   Isn't he darling??   What a smile!   He is up and walking.  His medical records do not show a heart condition.  At this young age, he would still be eligible for in-home early intervention services.  Ruslan's mother was a GYPSY (of mixed European and Asian descent).   She abandoned him when he was born.

Ruslan is an orphanage favorite, and they can't bear the thought of him being sent away to an institution.   He is running out of time!  Please consider rescuing him and having him for your son.

I have $7000 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

My FOREVER FAMILY found me! Ruslana

Girl, Born January 21, 2005

Ruslana is a beautiful little girl.  She has brown hair and deep brown eyes.  She is already 3 and facing institutionalization.   Ruslana has particularly low tone, and has not had therapy, so she is still not walking.  However, we all know that with therapy and focus and a loving family, she will blossom and show the world just how amazing and resilient our children really are!

Ruslana does have an oval window, but she is not considered in need of surgery at this time.   You would want to follow up with a cardiologist once you are home, though.

Please give Ruslana the opportunity to be all she can be!!  She has very little time left.

What a darling little boy!!

Danylo

Boy, Born May 11, 2007

Danylo is a handsome and BLESSED little boy because he was able to have surgery to repair his AV canal already!    This is so rare (for an orphan to have access to life-saving surgery), so we know God has a greater plan for Danylo's life!  Danylo also has a kidney malformation, but a nephrectomy was performed and he is doing well after his surgery.    Often times a nephrectomy is performed to remove cancerous cells, but Danylo's was strictly for a malformation.   We are awaiting further info on any special care he may need and his prognosis.  He will definitely need to be followed by a cardiologist and an internist once here at home.

Danylo has blonde hair and big blue eyes.   He is typically happy and doing much better now that his heart and kidney is healing and functioning properly.    Danylo is so precious, and will be available in November of this year.  Now is the perfect time to get your paperwork started to adopt him !

I have $150 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!
