Angel Girls

Everyone loves a precious little girl they can dress up in frilly dresses and hair bows.  They capture the hearts of every daddy in the world!

Here are some who are waiting for their family at the end of Reece's Rainbow.

Darina

Girl, Born August 19, 2003

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

This beautiful, high functioning little girl is waiting for her family, and is living on borrowed time.  Darina is already 4 1/2 years old, and was born with cerebral palsy.   Despite the fact that she walks and runs, is aware and verbal and social, her diagnosis alone will mean spending the rest of her life in a mental institution.

PLEASE DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO HER!

One of our own adoptive families who visited with her in March of 2008 shared this with us:  " A little girl named Darina stole my heart today.  She was eating when we went to photograph her so we came back a few minutes later.  The caretakers had changed her clothes into a cute little dress and must have told her that the picture was for her to get a mama.  She came running to me saying “mama, mama” and grabbed me around the knees.  She is such a cute little thing and I hated to disappoint her by not scooping her up and walking out with her.  Two of the children in her groupa have recently been adopted (one is still visiting with his adoptive parents) so it is obvious she was ready to get picked up and brought to the playroom.  She did stand still for a picture before rejoining my lap and even after I stood up and was leaving she grabbed my hand and requested more photos.  She told me I am beautiful and she was very vocal in talking with her caretakers.  Little Darina has Cerebral Palsy, and although she walks and runs and is obviously very aware and verbal, the doctor told me that she will be transferred to the institution in a few short months instead of joining her peers at school.  She is already four years old and time is really running out for her."

  • No stated family size restrictions

  • Total with travel approx $22k

Priscilla

Girl, Born July 25, 2002

Asia

This beautiful little girl needs a family!  She has dark hair and dark eyes.  Priscilla has been officially diagnosed with epilepsy and microcephaly.  She was on phenobarbitol to prevent seizures, but she was removed from the phenobarbitol in 2005 and has never had a record of a seizure since.  She does take Nootropil for brain stimulation, and this is a maintenance medicine for her at this time.  She will need to be followed by a neurologist once home.

Despite Prisicilla's challenges, she is very close to walking on her own.  She still needs encouragement, but she is doing very well.  She has regular PT, OT, and speech, and has also benefited from massage, music, and play therapy.    She sits by herself with no problem, and has an attention span of about 30 minutes.  She can stand while holding the parallel bar for about 5 minutes.  Her caregivers and therapists say she is a true joy, and they so hope she will find a family to love and cherish her.

Priscilla is offered through a very stable and well-established program, with easy family and travel requirements, and relatively low cost.    Full medical and social history is available.  We are so excited to have this new program open, and hope to find a family for Priscilla very quickly!

TWINS!

Sandra & Slavka

Girls, Born February 27, 2003

Sandra (on the top with darker hair) and Slavka are twin little girls in Eastern Europe.   They both have brown hair and giant brown soulful eyes.  Aren't they beautiful?   They were born with West Syndrome.  Both girls are very social and loving and enjoy being held and played with.  They both have a very sweet and pleasant nature.

Both girls are significantly cognitively delayed, but have been attending kindergarten for children with special needs since June of 2007 and are doing very well there.  The staff and doctors are very pleased with the girls' developmental progress.   They walk independently and their gross motor skills are very good.  Their greatest need is that of speech.  Neither girl is verbal, but they also do not have any speech therapy.   They have great potential for use of speech and communication with this help!

West syndrome is basically epileptic seizures.   They both take medication for convulsions and are under regular care of a neurologist.   With medication, neither girl has had any episodes, so the neurologist is  actually reducing their dosages.

These precious sisters will make a wonderful addition to any family, and will really blossom with the appropriate therapeutic and educational assistance!

  • NO AGENCY FEES

  • Married couples only, under 50 years of age preferably

  • No more than 5 children (at home or own their own)

  • TOTALLY CLEAN criminal background check

  • Parents should be general healthy

  • Both parents travel for approx 15 days

  • Total with travel and home study under $16k

  • Short simple dossier

There is no "court"...only a beautiful "adoption ceremony".  Orphanage donations are not required.   Short, simple dossier, very short wait for travel once your dossier is submitted.  This is a very easy program, and we could get many children with Down syndrome out of this country with minimal costs and easy travel requirements.

Ellie

Girl, 5 years old

Eastern Europe

Ellie is a beautiful little girl with blond hair and blue eyes.  She was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome.  (http://children.webmd.com/treacher-collins-syndrome-10671) She is currently living in an orphanage for deaf children, but receiving minimal training.  Ellie is a very sweet little girl, but she does struggle with atretic teratosis of the external auditory canal and a hearing deficiency at stage 2-3.  Her vision does not seem to be affected.  She does have some institutional delays, but will really thrive in a family setting with appropriate education and medical care.  Plastic and reconstructive surgery could help with her facial features if this is something you would consider.

Both Ellie and Chrissy are living in the same orphanage and could be adopted together as sisters for as little as $12k in in-country fees.

  • Married couples only may apply

  • No more than 45 years between parent and child

  • No stated family size restrictions

  • Total with travel approx $22k

  • Both parents for 2 1/2 weeks to attend court

  • Both parents return home for 3 weeks, and  only one must return to complete the adoption for approx 4-5 days

Adoption fees in-country of $7500, plus travel and associated US adoption costs. No stateside agency fees.

One trip of 4 weeks, one parent can return after 2.5 weeks.  Married couples only, prefer no more than 8 children in the family, and easy min. income requirements.

Contact Amy Opperman for more info and photos.

Nadya

Girl, Born February 26, 2003

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Nadya needs a family!   This beautiful little girl is not living the life she should be.  :(   Nadya has brown hair and beautiful blue eyes.  Caretakers describe her as a really nice girl, has good, adequate reaction when people are talking to her, she is friendly, she speaks, she walks independently.  She is also potty trained.  Her medical records indicate mental retardation, but there is no specific diagnosis or cause for this cognitive delay.  It could be totally institutional.    She does not have any other noted health complications.   She is a beautiful flower ready to blossom in a loving family environment.

Nadya's biological mother died in February 2005, and the biological father was never known.  She is legally available for adoption NOW.  Nadya is already living in an institution, so we need a family for her right away!

  • Married couples only may apply

  • No more than 45 years between parent and child

  • No stated family size restrictions

Chia-Ling

Girl, Born December 27, 2006

Williams Syndrome

As you can see, I am a sweet baby girl with chubby cheeks and a one-of-its-kind coiffure!   I am living in Taiwan.

What you cannot see is that I was born with Williams Syndrome – a rare genetic condition, characterized by a unique personality that combines being very social, extremely polite, empathetic, and verbally expressive, with high levels of anxiety; and also by mild to moderate mental retardation or learning disabilities, and medical problems. One common trait in children and adults with Williams syndrome is their love of music, and a higher rate of musicality than in the general population.

My nannies say that I already show traits of my endearing personality – I am very expressive, I give people big smiles, and it brings me joy to please them. I do get a lot of additional physical therapy, and I am trying hard, and the doctors are satisfied with my progress, my health and my development.  I will most likely need a lot of additional care while I am growing up, but I want to have a parents’ love as much as other babies!

For additional information about Williams syndrome, go to:   http://www.williams-syndrome.org/forparents/index.

Full medical disclosure with many photographs are available.  There is significant family and medical history available.

  • Married couples only for a minimum of 5 years

  • No previous divorces

  • No more than 4 children at home

  • One trip, only 7 days!

Vicky

Girl, Born May 31, 2005

Diagnosed with a severe cognitive delay

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Vicky is the cutest little girl!  She has strawberry blonde hair and giant blue eyes.  She benefits from living in a small orphanage with loving staff and a caring director.    Her delays are likely caused by prenatal drug use, but there is nothing in her records mentioning this.

A missionary who visited there recently noted about Vicky:   "Vicky is a very shy and quiet little girl, but, even though she was a bit wary of the strangers taking her pictures, she was quick to flash us her beautiful smile.   She does not speak at this time.  She is very sweet, loving, calm little girl.  Vicky resides in a special needs orphanage but is not in the special needs room.   She has been diagnosed with severe developmental delays, but seemed to interact well with her care givers and the other children in her group."

According to the orphanage director, Vicky is significantly delayed and will need a very special, patient, experienced family.

Reka

Girl, Born March 19, 2005

Beautiful little Reka, with her dark hair and big brown eyes, is 3 years old now and waiting for her forever family.

Reka was the 8th child from the 7th twin pregnancy. She was born prematurely at 29 weeks gestation.  She was the second twin.  Her sibling is not available for adoption.

From her medical records:  "Due to her premature birth, Reka has a hemorrhage of the brain,  second degree, and her lungs were not mature enough  because of the prematurity.  She is now 3 yrs old.  She has strabismus.  Reka is cognitively delayed.  Her muscle tone is good, but she still gets physical therapy.   She is sitting without support, standing with support, not walking yet.  She is vocalizing, smiling, taking a toy with the opposition of her thumb. She also has emotional reactions. She is eating with a spoon with  help of the other person.   Doesn't have control of her bodily functions yet, and her speech is not developed.    Her development is delayed but is progressing."

Reka has great potential, and deserves to have a loving family to help make the most of her life!  We will have better photos and updated personality information soon, please check back!

Diana

Girl, Born March 2, 2004

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Little Diana is living on borrowed time.  She recently "celebrated" her 4th birthday, but in an Eastern European orphanage, that is nothing to celebrate.   Miss Diana was born with severe Cerebral Palsy, and will likely not survive her transfer to the institution.  She is blessed to still be in the baby house.

One of our own adoptive families who visited with her in March 2008 shared this with us about Diana:  " This child has several medical problems and was described to me as “difficult” although it is based only on her diagnosis.  She has Cerebral Palsy and is fed via tube.  She spends her days tucked in a crib without any stimulation other than feedings and occasional diaper changes.  Her crib is situated where she cannot even see the other children in the room, just the side of a table through her crib bars.  I was asked whether or not I even wanted her picture but there is no way I could leave without it.  I hope that her forever family is looking for her right now!"

We are so prayerful that there is a forever family out there for every single one of the children we share here at Reece's Rainbow...and maybe even one for little Diana.   Is it you?

Girl, Born November 30, 2004

From one of our own adoptive families who visited with Olga in March 2008:  "Unfortunately this little one didn’t want her picture taken either and was crying even before I entered the room.  I am told that she has Cerebral Palsy and was not able to get any other information on her personality or health condition."

Olga is already 3 1/2 years old and is facing institutionalization this Winter.

Delaney

Girl, Born November 5, 2003

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

This gorgeous little girl is brimming with potential, and so badly wants to be your new daughter!    She has just turned 5 and is in dire need of a family right now before she is sent away :(

Delaney was born with a heart defect.  Her medical records indicate:   Birth defect of heart and vessels (Tetrada Fallo) NK  ІІ А level.   After surgical status (2004 – surgery). Delay of psychological and speech development. Syndactyly  ІУ-У of left foot. Right side hemiparesis. Сhronical heart and vessel insufficiency  of second level.

She is a very lucky girl to have had heart surgery in her country!  God is truly watching over her!  She is very sweet little girl, active, and eats independently.  She is quite self sufficient and is able to dress herself with very little help.  She understands well when she is spoken to,  performs simple tasks, plays with toys properly, and likes to dance to music.  She will need some speech therapy once she gets home, and evaluation by a pediatric cardiologist, but she is a beautiful child and will be quite high functioning in the right environment!

Deena

Girl, Born April 6, 2005

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Diagnosed with mental retardation, most likely FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome)

Diana is a beautiful little girl with dark hair and brown eyes.   She benefits from living in a small orphanage with loving staff and a caring director.   A missionary who visited there recently noted about Diana:   "Diana was very shy during our visit with her groupa, but she was very alert and observant and was always following us with her eyes. She resides in an orphanage for children with special needs but is not in the special needs room which suggests that she is able to feed herself, is possibly potty trained (or in the process of potty training as they train the children very early) and is able to play independently. She is able to walk and, although we did not hear her talk, she was not reported to be nonverbal. While Diana is developmentally behind for her age, with the love and attention of a family she will likely blossom!

If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition.  Just as with Down syndrome, FAS and FAE have a wide variation of effects on each child, both medically, physically, and cognitively.   This is typically dependent on how long during the pregnancy the mother consumed alcohol, and of course, how much.   There is no way to know this ahead of time.

  • Married couples only may apply
